Miscellaneous
The following are various side projects by members of Purple Fish:
Public Chicken
In an effort to come up with a 1) “less gay name than Purple Fish” and 2) have a name that would be taken seriously, as opposed to The Butthole Journalists, the boys of Purple Fish spent many hours and beers vetting different options. The net result of the process was perhaps the lamest name ever – Public Chicken.
Public Chicken neither recorded nor performed as the members went their separate ways after realizing just how pathetic the renaming effort had been.
The Music Isn’t Fun project
Following the dissolution of Purple Fish in 1989 Darin and Bruce embarked upon a new and unnamed recording adventure. Eventually a title for the collection of new songs was settled upon – Music Isn’t Fun – but no name for the group itself was ever decided.

The BBC3
The live performing name under which Darin, Rob and Bruce reunited in the early 1990s. Under this moniker the trio performed at such high profile events as Dentonstock and some parties in Waco. This became the genesis for the reformation of Purple Fish and the subsequent recordings of Wash & Eat, Viva Mopeding and Trashy & Sassy, among others.
The BBC3 name was also used on an EP of electronic/dance experiments recorded by Rob and Bruce.
